These colorful silicon babies are adequately named ‘Food Huggers’. Once certain fruits and veggies are cut, they tend to dry out or go bad when simply put in the fridge. Food huggers are the more sustainable answer to using plastic wrap to avoid this.
I can’t really see why you wouldn’t, just, you know, eat the other half of a tomato or red onion. Having said that, the avocado hugger pictured above could be a real lifesaver. Avocados cannot be stored without becoming brown and un-edible fast, and eating a whole avocado is just a lot of fats consumed at once (healthy fats, but still).
So yes, business class 101: “Create a product that solves your client’s problem”, well done Food Huggers, your avocado hugger past the test. The design is clever as well, with a pit pocked that can be pushed in or out. And there are two different sizes for both small and large avocados, so no avocado half will have to feel left out.
