Jenny Wong bends solid wood into sculptures that will hold an air plant. It’s art + plants: meet the clever plant statues made by Art of Plants.
Being an Urban Nomad, every time my parents visit my latest abode I get the “You could really use more plants in here” comment. It’s not that I don’t like plants – I just find them often somewhat boring and plain.
These plants are a whole other ballgame though. They’re air plants, you soak them just a little every few days rather than giving them water directly. The plants don’t need soil to survive, and can be attached onto pretty much any material.
In her Brooklyn based studio, owner Jenny Wong cuts, sands, and bends the wood during an intense steaming process. Once the wood is bent into a sculpture, she combines it with plants. Somewhat odd, but a pretty genius find at the same time. With a diverse background which includes biology and design, combining her fascination for complex, adaptable plants, and bended wood, makes total sense to her. And to me, as these sculptures would looking stunning in any home, while also adding more non-boring greenery to your home. Bonus!
