An ode to your wall – Fraaiheid

October 24, 2016

FraaiheidWhen was the last time you bought some jewelry for your wall?

Normally when your wall is punctuated with holes you’d a. be annoyed and probably b. hang up picture frames to cover them up. But why bother with picture frames to cover up a flaw, when you can celebrate it with some shiny wall jewelry?

That’s what architects Daniel Aw, Rikjan Scholten en Sjoerd Schaapveld from Fraaiheid thought. Fraaiheid, a not much used dutch term for ‘something beautiful’, simply wants to make the world prettier.

Meet the MUUS

“MUUS is an ode to the wall. The wall shapes our living environment. It bravely carries the roof above our heads. But it also quietly creates the blank canvas on which we project our personalities. We transform and color it. We decorate it with paintings and trophies. Without any complaint, the wall collects all kinds of traces of our daily use over time. In return: the wall deserves a small sign of gratitude. The wall deserves a MUUS.”

The unusual Balance, Swing and Jump figurines are made from copper and are shiny and well-made.
