Mindful Monday: time to take a deep breath and stop. running. around.! Gigot is here with some Mindful inspiration. Introducing today: Herriott Grace
Ah yes Blue Monday. That day in January when we all realise that those New Years resolutions came, and have gone, and spring seems too far away to even be able to imagine it will ever be sunny again. Time to go back to bed, eat chocolate and weep how terribly grey and sad everything is!? Come on guys, it’s a mindful Blue Monday. Therefore let’s look at an inspiring business and awe some handmade beauty, I’m sure these items will make you re-consider spending that money on chocolate. Fight the grey fog with polished oak, maple or walnut handcrafted goodness instead!
Herriott Grace’s story is a bit of a fairytale. Father Lance and daughter Nicole live 3400 kilometeres apart. Lance had been collecting wood since the ’70s, and crafted wooden spoons to send over to his daughter on the other side of the country. After sending these gifts for years, Nicole convinced her dad to go into business together. Father as head of production in his shed, while the daughter became head of styling. In her hometown Toronto she quickly found a fan base for these beautiful items, handmade with an incredible amount of care and attention.
Just as there is a mum in Poland who will happily sew you a bag, there is now a dad in Canada who will carve you a unique butter knife! If that doesn’t cheer you up.. Enjoy your Mindful Monday!
