Mindful Monday: time to take a deep breath and stop. running. around.! Gigot is here with some Mindful inspiration. Introducing today: Julie White socks.
When practicing mindfulness, one constant returning exercise is trying to do daily tasks with full attention.
An example.
The socks you are wearing right now, do you remember pulling them out of the drawer this morning? Was this pair a deliberate choice? How did you put them on? Slowly feeling the soft touch of the fabric on your bare feet, or was it done in a hurry?
Socks generally aren’t very sexy. Or are they? Julie White has definitely made me reconsider the position socks should have in my life.
Designer Julie White obtained her Masters degree in textiles at the Glasgow School of Art. No offence to all things Scottish, but you can imagine how one misses Australia when being there. Beach parties, coral reefs, juicy fruit.. yup there’s a theme in this collection!
I come from an island where everyone has their own secret beach, for friends to escape, remember and forget
The hand-drawn patterns and quirky colour combinations of this ‘Straya Daze‘ collection, which also includes some stunning scarves, really pull you in. They manage to make you feel a little homesick for Australia, even if you’ve never actually been there.
With titles as ‘Prawnogrophy’, ‘Desert Disco’ and ‘Pavlovo Socks’, this is hosiery with capital F Fun. Moreover, as they have to be washed by hand, they cannot be chucked into the laundry like all other socks. And this in turn, makes caring for your socks a returning opportunity to practice mindfulness. Enjoy your Mindful Monday!
