So it’s that beanie time of the year again but you don’t enjoy knitting and rather stay at home all winter? Then luckily there is a Danish guy who will happily fold a beanie for you. One that will even light you up a little.
Morten Droob could’t find a nice lamp to brighten up his daughter’s room, so he decided to dust-off his folding skills and create a lampshade using the ancient art form of origami. He started his company Droobski in 2013. Since he spent countless hours folding at his workbench in Copenhagen. Each lamp is carefully folded by hand using one large sheet of cardboard. Folding one lamp can take up to an hour, which seems incredibly fast to me, when you look at all the details going into his work.
When you buy a lamp you also support Doctors without borders as Morten gives a donation with every purchase. Though It’s not exactly clear why this organisation is being supported, it’s a nice gesture. Mr Droobski is also on a mission to motivate you to get rid of those last old fashion lightbulbs, as these cart board lamps can only handle led and energy saving lamps. To conclude: support two good causes and lighten up your home with a soft glow coming from a folded in Copenhagen lamp.
