Indosole uses only vegan materials found in their native Indonesia, to create their fashionable, colourful footwear. Their most important goal: saving tires from landfills to give them a second life in Indosoles.
In Bali people heavily rely on motorbikes as their main mode of transport. Helping to re-purpose the tires no longer suitable for the road, is Indosole‘s bit to try to stop overflowing Bali’s landfills. So far they’ve saved over 24.000 tires! In the soles you can recognise some of the original words and numbers of the tires that were once cruising the island.
The beautiful footwear is designed and manufactured in Bali, using traditional manufacturing methods by local artisans. The colourful, laidback ‘Bali vibe’ is in the DNA of each pair of shoes. Looking at the designs and the branding, it’s not surprising to learn that it were a couple of Californian surfers who came up with this idea. I for one am happy they did, and that they managed to build a thriving business out of it. Less trash + more colour + awesome footwear = always a good idea.
